EXHORTATION
Ambassadors for Christ
(Exhortation - January 2006)
The gospel of Matthew 28:18-20 states, “and Jesus came and spake unto them (his disciples) saying, ‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.’”
Mark’s gospel chapter 16:15-16 states, “And he said unto them, ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.’” Further on in verse 20 we read, “And they went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
Brothers and sisters, in the very way that Jesus sent out his disciples to be ambassadors (witnesses) to his word, all of us baptized Christadelphians should play our part, once we are capable, to be messengers for Christ. If you check your Bible and turn to Matthew 10: 32-33, it says, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
Therefore, based on these words, we ‘brethren in Christ’ should be at the forefront to bring the gospel of truth to every creature. We should be empowered by the words of Paul in Romans 1:15,16: “So as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are in Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Just like Paul to the Romans, we should put on the whole armour of God, be fearless and bold soldiers (ambassadors) for the gospel of Christ, because there are thousands out there in this world who are hungry to read and hear the truth of God’s word.
I therefore take this opportunity to appeal to those of you (like me), baptized in the truth, those of us capable, to preach the gospel to every creature.
Finally, brothers, sisters, let us be instrumental in being a light to those who are still in darkness. Let the words of Psalm 119:105 be a source of inspiration to all those who we come in contact with as we share the word of God with them. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Brothers, sisters, may God richly inspire us to share the gospel with others.
