QUIZ:
Ephesians 1
(Reflection - January 2006)
This is not a quiz with exact
or precise answers. But remember, Paul must have expected his brothers
and sisters in Ephesus, many of them young in the truth and some probably
slaves, to have been able to answer these questions quite easily!
God has “blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places” (v.3). Which in
particular have YOU been blessed with? In what way can the “place”
YOU have or occupy be described as “heavenly”?
God has “chosen us in him
[Christ] before the foundation of the world” (v.4). Since none
of us existed then, what does Paul mean?
Paul states that we “should
be holy and without blame” (v.4). How can this be achieved?
[Look for the answer in the next two verses].
You have “redemption through
his {Jesus’} blood” (v.7). What is that “redemption”?
[The answer is in the same verse]. From what specifically have YOU
been “redeemed”?
What is the “mystery of His
[God’s] will”? (v.9). Why is it a “mystery”?
What does the “dispensation
of the fullness of times” (v.10) mean?
What “things” in heaven
and earth are “gathered together in one in Christ” (v.10)?
How can it be said that we have
obtained our inheritance already (v.11)? [You don’t have to
look far for the answer: it’s in the same verse].
